Vorige maand heeft Tim Atkin zijn jaarlijkse special report over Zuid-Afrika uitgebracht. Atkin, Master of Wine en vooraanstaand wijnrecensent, is een grote liefhebber van Zuid-Afrikaanse wijnen. Zelf schrijft hij "Wine has been produced inthe Cape since the mid-17 century, but it’s easy to forget that the modern South African industry is not yet 25 years old. It remains a work in progress. But what progress it has made. There isn’t a single wine style that South Africa doesn’t do as well as any other country in the New World. [...] There’s something happening in South Africa that is unique in the wine world. Call it energy, call it creativity, call it optimism, call it all three. But it’s apparent to anyone who visits the Cape."

Lukas van Loggerenberg werd door Atkin gekroond als "Young Winemaker of the Year 2018" en Donovan Rall's AVA Syrah 2017 is de "Red Wine Discovery of the Year".
